Single sign-on / EduGAIN Federation

SSO (Single Sign-On) is a component of identity federation that enables users to authenticate only once to access multiple services. Once connected to the SSO service, it indicates to other applications that the user is already logged in, avoiding the need to log in again each time.

All research and academic organizations as Ecole polytechnique and CNRS, that already have a user database1 and support one of the existing protocols are eligible for identity federation. In France, it's the Fédération Éducation-Recherche.

Identity federation gives users simple, secure access to the applications and services of their choice, in full compliance with the GDPR.

The eduGAIN interfederation service connects identity federations as around the world, simplifying access to content, services and resources for the global research and education community. eduGAIN comprises over 80 participant federations connecting more than 8,000 Identity and Service Providers.
